I’m a big James Ellroy fan. Years ago, I caught wind of Joe Carnahan trying to make a version of Ellroy’s White Jazz. I followed his blog a bit, downloaded a copy of the script. He even had someone mock up a few shots that represented the look he was going for. Clooney was on board to play Dave Klein until he dropped out at the last minute. I was lukewarm to the idea of Carnahan/Clooney, but I love this image and use it as one of my rotating desktop pics. I’m listening to the White Jazz audiobook on my drives to & from work these days and I just love the feel of it, that frenetic first-person drive that propels you through the book.

Starting to re-watch this via HBO GO. Would have loved to be in the writer’s room with these guys.
